I must say... for folks to get so bent out of shape over a GAME is completely childish. I've had some guild mates treat me that way... no, I didn't cry... because I didn't care. My only retort was "IT IS A G A M E!!!!". If I am not having a good night in PVP (and I don't really PVP much actually, I prefer PVE), then I am just not having a good night. Simple. Its a game kids... a game. Supposed to be fun! A game. I said that already didn't I... sorry! LOL

You can't really use that logic here. If you don't cry over an argument then kudos to that really You can't call it childish though. First of all there's the fact that you are playing together with real people. Real people use real words which can be really hurtful, even if it's over a chat forum. Then you might say: GW is an MMO and not a chat forum. Now here's the difference: You can play a game. Now if you could play a game in a chat forum like Facebook, Twitter, MSN and such then would you react completely different towards the things the people you chat with? No of course you wouldn't. That would pretty much make no sense. Calling people childish because they emotionally react to what they read, that has been written to/about them: Childish.

Just to clarify: I've never cried over GW either. However I have become so frustrated that I smashed my hand into the wall so hard that I couldn't use it for over a week. I know, pretty stupid XD

Ehhhhh, NO. I am calling someone childish who gets pissed off and lashes out at his team mates or one of them with the crudeness described in the original post here. Temper tantrums are childish, in a game, in business, in anything. I remember my little brother falling out on the floor pounding his fists and kicking his feet when he was like 5 years old (a child)...

It's one thing to react to something someone says, two people disagree about a build or something, and proceed to argue about it. Thats not childish, thats healthy debate. If someone on your team is trying, but having a bad night, or perhaps they're new to the game, and your team is losing because of them.... the best way to react to this person is probably to teach, not call out in front of everyone else. This is precisely why I haven't done much PVP stuff since Prophecies was the only game... people don't want to teach, have no patience with others trying to get started, and are only looking for "ranked" team mates.

Now, I did NOT say that reacting to the game or a player is itself "childish". Verbally abusing someone BECAUSE of a GAME is the childish part. I'm sorry if I did not clarify that enough.

Aah cool enough XD A huge difference between what you said and what you meant in previous post, but this pretty much makes it 100% clear. ^^

Never cried, but annoyed.
I just can't seem to find a decent guild.......they are either full of annoying people, or just don't accept noobs..I want to learn to PVP, but I can't find a guild to teach me. Guilds that are nice and stuff don't do anything or just focus on PVE. I can't seem to find a balance :P

I was part of a guild like that once. Awesome people, doing PvP all the time, etc.

Guild broke up around two years ago, sadly.

There are a lot of nice PvP guilds, and I say that as a total PvE'er. I know, wtf But problem is that they mostly can't survive for long because of the difficulty of PvP. When you lose a battle, you've lost it, and sometimes even with penalty. In PvE you can just try again and such, besides it's much easier to train and prepare for that.

I don't like this whole noob calling thing nor the thing about not giving people a chance. Elitist preferences annoy the crap out of me as well. However I can see why people would prefer playing with players they completely know the capability of. Sometimes you can find the best of comrades in a PvP guild, but the difficult thing is getting into those circles ^^

Yes, actually. My cat disappeared back in April, and I had been crying off and on for quite some time. My friend asked what was wrong, and I told him... All he had to say was, "He's never coming back. Just get over it." It had nothing at all to do with Guild Wars, except that the PM was received in game, but that did make me cry.

When I first started, my first guild was laughing about something that had happened to me earlier on in my life, something that had hurt me then, and still greatly affects me to this day. They weren't laughing at what happened to me, exactly, but the topic in general. They acted as if it was so trivial, and when I told them it was insensitive and not a laughing matter, they continued to go on and on about it. The unpleasant memories made me cry. Again, didn't cry about Guild Wars, but about some personal things in my life that other people trivialized. It's kind of hard to grasp the severity of this example without a more thorough explanation, but whatever.

Those people don't sound nice at all. I would leave them (or at least poke fun at them in sly ways when they open up). I hope you get your kitty back. Could somebody else have found it? Or animal shelters?

Eh, thinking back to that incident, I wonder why I still talk to that friend. That was a very cold, insensitive thing to say to anyone, especially someone who was still getting over the death of her thirteen year-old dog. As for the people in my first guild, I left that day. It over three and a half years ago, though one of the guys from the incident is on my friends list again. I have since come to terms with the.. Topic in the incident with the guild, but at the time, it was still fairly new to me for various reasons I won't get into here.

As for my cat, thank you, but I'm afraid it's not likely. He was technically a "stray", but since he was always in our yard and I had turned him from feral to a lap cat who waited for me multiple times a day, I pretty much considered him my outdoor cat, a good friend. Everyone instantly fell in love with him, even people who weren't fond of cats. I think someone must have picked him up, fallen in love with him, and couldn't bear to part with him. That's what I've been telling myself, anyway, and I'm inclined to believe it.

That's far longer than I intended. Sorry.

Staying on topic, I see a lot of "it's only a game" in this thread. Probably being a broken record (didn't read the whole thread), but it is quite possible to form bonds over the internet. I met my best friend over the internet, and we ended up meeting up in my town a few years ago. If she had raged at me like that, I probably would have been very upset about it, and it sounds like the OP's friend and guildie were good friends before he blew up at her.

I actually cried from rage once while vanquishing. I spent a long time with my heros and hench clearing out some place in kurzick territory, when i got wiped by a boss and his group. I kept dying from this group over and over and almost all party had 60%. Of course I forgot my candy canes, and i only had enough gold to buy morale boost from the shrine avatar to get 45%. Needless to say, I got wiped again by the boss and was zoned out with only a couple baddies left to vanquish. Took me about 15 minutes away from the computer to settle down.

That is all..

I think Ive replied here, but it was well over a year ago. I've cried recently! Arguing with a real life friend though, about real life stuff. I was using Guild Wars as a substitute for MSN, as it refused to work on my laptop. GOOD TIMES.

That isn't that long really. I would take walls of text too.

It's not just a game to some people and people on this topic are missing that. Some people play Guild Wars for the experience (tactics, etc), to be part of a team, or to just win. That is why people get angry when something happens. It is has nothing to do with it being "just a game", because it's not just a game to them... had that been true there would be no reaction from them in the first place.

almost when Rurik died...

almost when few of my GW friends died or have someone close died (that is what happens when you were in a guild with some members 65+)

from frustration - when pugging. I can handle rurik and alesia leeroying but not what some pugs are able to do.

from "world-weariness" - when reading local chat. Now it is permanently off together with trade one.

Yes I do prefer to have other team full hench in vizunah regardless if it is NM or HM... Their survivability is higher than most (with one exception) of the teams I encountered there recently.

Saying that it's just a game and you should not cry over a game is the same rhetoric your parents beat into your head to keep you from crying after losing in a game of Candyland. What they mean to say is that you should be a sport for losing.

This is not a 'game' in the sense that you win or lose, and I think I speak for everyone here when I say that if you're over 8 years old, when something frustrating/disappointing happens related to the game, you get angry.. not bawl your eyes out. Most people cry in game for reasons rather unrelated to the game.

So anyone who responds to this thread by posting "lol whut! crying is 4 babys lolz" probably not only almost cried playing a game but probably hated themselves for it too.

The only time i got really sad was when my best friend that i met when i first started playing said she was quiting GW and wanted to give me all her stuff. I still think about all the fun times we had doing missions and stuff and when we first met in Ashford Abbey in pre

Lol, and this one time i was really embarressed when i join a gvg guild. I was in there for a few days and realized that their time was different from my time and nobody told me it was a european guild and that i was the only american in it. And when it was time to do the battle i was getting set up on vent (but i havent used it in a long time) so i was kinda lost, so they had to tell me how to get on and stuff. And then after i got on they were all saying i was a stupid american so it kinda hurt my feelings but idk why. And to make it even worse, i live in the hell desert and it was summer time so i got perfect lag throughout the whole match (115+ degrees to be exact ) So like every 10 mins i would lag out for a few mins and dc, i was so embarressed i left the guild after the day.
